Sphero Raises $45M More
Boulder-based robot maker Sphero said Tuesday that it has raised $45M in a new funding round, bringing its total raised to $80M. The new funding was led by Salt Lake City's Mercato partners, and also included The Walt Disney Company and other strategic investors. Mercato's co-founder Greg Warnock joins Sphero's board as part of the funding. Sphero makes robotic, rolling toys, and also provided the technology behind the new Star Wars robot, BB-8. The company said the new funds go twoards product research and development. Sphero is led by startup veteran Paul Berberian.
