Sphero Turns To Kickstarter For New Programmable Robot
Boulder-based Sphero--returning to its roots in developing educational robots--has turned to Kickstarter for its newest robot, the Sphero RVR. Sphero has launched a campaign on Kickstarter to raise $150,000 towards its new robot, and was within $5,000 of that goal as of Tuesday morning. According to Sphero, the new robot is a "go anywhere, do anything" programmable robot, which is highly programmable, and can also attach to third party hardware such as Raspberry Pi, BBC micro:bit, or Arduino. The new robot comes as Sphero has shifted away from licensed robotic toys, which it had been offering up in a licensing deal with Disney.
