Aereo Expanding Internet TV Service To Utah
Aereo, the provider of a service which lets users access broadcast television over the Internet, is expanding to Utah, and plans top open its services on August 19th. According to Aereo, the service will be available statewide, with such local networks as KSTU-HD (FOX), KSL-DT (NBC), KUTV-HD (CBS), KTVX-HD (ABC) and KUED-HD (PBS). Aereo lets users record and watch live TV channels on a number of devices, including their iOS tablets and smartphones, for a monthly fee. The company's service has been controversial, with broadcasters fighting the company in court over its storing and rebroadcasting of their content. Aereo's expansion into Utah takes advantage of the limited number of channels available in the state, which makes it easy for the company to cover the entire state with its launch.
