Liberty Global Buys German Cable Operator For $3.0 Billion
Englewood, Colorado-based Liberty Global said late Thursday that it is in a deal to acquire Unity Media S.C.A., Germany's second largest cable operator. Liberty Global said the deal is worth approximately $3.0 billion. The firm said it is acquiring 100 percent of the firm from shareholders BC Partners and Apollo. Unitymedia serves the German federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, covering approximately 8.8 million homes and ten of the twenty largest cities in Germany.
