Utah Looks To Recruit Researchers
The State of Utah is looking to attract researchers to the University of Utah and Utah State University, signing into law last week a bill to provide funding for technology. The The Utah Science, Technology, and Research Initiative (USTAR) provides $65M in cash plus $110M in bonds to attract researchers to the state, in hopes of attracting research teams that might develop marketable technology. A portion of the money is being used to build new buildings for research teams, and a small portion will go towards commercialization efforts.
