DigitalGlobe Partner Launches VR Simulator
Longmont Colorado-based DigitalGlobe announced Wednesday that INTERSAT, DigitalGlobe's Brazilian-based partner, has introduced a new virtual reality simulator based on DigitalGlobe's satellite imaging. INTERSAT's Virtual Reality Simulator uses DigitalGlobe's QuickBird high resolution satellite images for flight simulation for airline pilots. DigitalGlobe's digital imaging provides 60-centimeter resolution, enough to provide runway, taxiway, road, and waterway details. DigitalGlobe said that it is being used to train Brazilian and Columbian Air Force pilots. DigitalGlobe is the provider of satellite imaging for Google's popular Google Maps service.
