Salt Lake City-based machine identity protection software developer
Venafi is getting into the investment business, saying today that it has created a new, $12.5M investment fund, the
Machine Identity Protection Develompent Fund. According to Venafi, it will provide developers with "direct sponsorship" for their efforts. Venafi says it will provide funding to consultants, systems integrators, startups, open-source developers and other cybersecurity vendors to integrate machine identity products with its platform. Venafi said it already has provided "sponsorship" to open source developer Jetstack, software consultancy OpenCredo, and public key infrastructure developer Cygnacom. Size and terms of those deals were not announced. The new investment fund comes after Venafi raised $100M itself from private equity investor Technology Crossover Ventures, only a few weeks ago.
