DigitalGlobe Adds Building Footprints To Datasets
Westminster, Colorado-based satellite imagery and geographical information systems (GIS) data provider DigitalGlobe is bolstering its data set with the building footprints of every building in the United States, the company said on Wednesday. According to DigitalGlobe, the new data comes via a partnership with Ecopia Tech Corporation, a developer of artificial intelligence software. The two said the building footprint info comes from a machine learning effort by the two companies. Pricing on access to the new data was not announced by the company. DigitalGlobe said that it already has supported projects from natural gas pipeline operators, who are required to locate properties within specific distances of their pipeline, and also was used in Tanzania, used for settlement mapping, as current maps did not exist for much of the country.
