DigitalGlobe, NTT Data Link On 3D Building Models
Westminster, Colorado-based Earth imagery provider DigitalGlobe and Japanese IT services provider NTT DATA say that the two are working together on large-scale, 3D vector building models, used in 3D mapping. According to the two, they are extending a strategic partnership to produce large-scale 3D vector building model datasets, called AW3D Metro, using NTT DATA's elevation data and DigitalGlobe's high resolution imagery. Financial details of the relationship were not announced. The companies said that 3D data is used in such areas as connected device management, navigation visualization, insurance risk mitigation and smart city planning. The effort will initially roll out in Japan.
