Descartes Labs Launches Out Of Beta
Los Alamos, New Mexico-based Descartes Labs, the venture-backed developer of satellite imagery analysis software, has launched out of beta, the company said this week. According to the company, it has officially launched with its first, non-satellite data set and a partnership with Airbus. The company said the first non-satellite data is weather data from the NOAA, which it says can be used to see how weather conditions impact the commodity supply chain, for example, shipping and transportation of goods. The company also said that its users now have access to the Airbus OneAtlas catalog, which provides very high resolution, 1.5m per pixel data over the entire world. Descartes Labs is venture backed by March Capital, Crosslink Capital, Cultivian, and Cargill; the company announced a big funding round in August of last year. Descartes Labs is a spinout of Los Alamos National Laboratory.
