Spectra Logic Racks Up 100th Patent
Boulder-based Spectra Logic, the developer of tape and storage libraries, said it has received its 100th United State patent. The company said its 100th patent, U.S. Patent No. D72, 922, covers the aesthetic design of its BlackPearl Deep Storage Gateway. The company said the last two of its patents were unusual, in that they were design, rather than utility patents, which make up the bulk of its patent portfolio. Although Spectra Logic has a large portfolio of patents, the company has not been among the more aggressive companies in terms of aggressive patent lawsuits.
