Spectra Logic Launches New Storage Product
Boulder, Colorado-based Spectra Logic announced this morning that it has launched a new, storage product, focused on high-density, bulk storage. Spectra Logic said its Spectra Verde DPE product uses Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR), which allows the system to deliver storage at only 9 cents per GB. The new system supports up to 7.4 petabytes in a single rack. SMR storage is a newer storage technology currently shipping from both Seagate and Hitachi GST. Spectra Logic's device looks like network-attached-storage (NAS) to users.
