Two, Boulder-area companies are among the inaugural companies to join the new
Disney Accelerator, the startup accelerator backed by Walt Disney. The accelerator--which is being run by Boulder's Techstars--said today that it will include eleven companies in its inaugural, summer program, which will be run similarly to Techstars' other startup accelerators. Among those are Boulder-based robotic ball maker
Sphero, and Boulder-based
Ubooly, which makes high tech, talking and listening toys. Both Sphero and Ubooly are actually Techstars veterans, with Ubooly having
been at TechStars Boulder back in 2012, and Sphero having
been founded at TechStars back in 2010. Disney is providing $120,000 in investment capital to those startups to help them develop their ideas, and also provide mentoring from Disney executives.
