GoDaddy Backs OpenStack
Scottsdale, Arizona-based GoDaddy is putting its muscle behind the OpenStack open source, cloud operating system and infrastructure effort, the company said this morning. According to GoDaddy, it is becoming a sponsor of the OpenStack Foundation, to help drive continued development of the open source tools there. GoDaddy said it has been using OpenStack internally, and it is using OpenStack for its cloud platform. OpenStack is a set of open source software tools which are being implemented across different cloud providers, and is widely considered an open alternative to Amazon's set of web services. Members of OpenStack have been looking to provide interoperable cloud components, so that users can move their cloud implementations between--or distribute their cloud applications--across different Internet service providers.
