Gogo Launches Faster In-Flight Internet
Gogo, the provider of in-flight Wi-Fi services which has operations in Broomfield, Colorado, said Monday that it has launched its next-generastion, ATG-4 technology on Delta Air Lines, US Airways and Virgin America. Gogo said that the service, installed on more than 25 domestic aircraft, delivers a peak speed of 9.8 Mbps, three times the speed of its current, 3.1 Mbps service. Gogo said the faster service comes thanks to dual modems, direction antennas, and EV-DO Rev. B. technology in its products. Gogo's service uses air-to-ground, cellular connections to provide in-flight Wi-Fi to travelers. Gogo said it expects to have "hundreds" of aircraft installations before the end of 2013 of the new technology.
