Microsoft, GE Joint Venture Launches, With Big Salt Lake Presence
A new, joint venture between Microsoft and GE, is expected to have a "significant" presence in Salt Lake City, according to the two firms last night. Microsoft and GE said they are creating a 50-50 joint venture late Wednesday, which will focus on creating healthcare IT software. The new venture combines a number of Microsoft healthcare product lines with GE's own healthcare IT products, and will offer up a healthcare performance management suite to customers. A key part of the new joint venture is GE Healthcare's Qualibria, a clinical knowledge application environment it is developing in cooperation with Intermountain Healthcare, in Salt Lake City, along with the Mayo Clinic. GE and Microsoft did not say exactly how many it will employ in Salt Lake.
