Orbotix Gets $5M More
Boulder-based Orbotix, the developer of the Sphero robotic toy, has raised $5M in a new funding round. The round came from Highway 12 Ventures and Foundry Ventures. Orbotix develops a robotic ball, the Sphero, which allows users to control it via Apple iOS and Google Android phones. Orbotix is one of last year's TechStars companies, and raised a round of funding in September from Foundry Ventures, led by Brad Feld. Highway 12 said it first met the founders of Orbotix at TechStars last summer. Orbotix is headed by Paul Berberian, who recently joined the firm. Berberian is the former CEO of Raindance Communications, and was the founder of Market Force Information. He also sits on the board of Boulder-based Lijit. Highway 12's Mark Solon joins the board at Orbotix as part of the funding.
