Zayo Gets $13.4M In Federal Stimulus
Louisville, Colorado-based Zayo Bandwidth said today that it has been granted $13.4M in a federal stimulus award, as part of the federal Recovery Act Broadband Opportunity Program. Zayo said the funding will go to enable high speed broadband to companies, government, and internet service providers in Minnesota. Zayo said its broadband will go to wire Anoka County, Minnesota, which is currently limited to either T1 or DSL service. The federal stimulus comes in addition to $5.7M from Anoka County, as part of the "Connect Anoka County Community Broadband Network". The grant is the second for Zayo; the firm also recently landed $25M from the federal government on a similar, fiber-based network project in Indiana.
