Utah Technology Council Releases Data On Technology Growth
The Utah Technology Council, the combination of the Utah Information Technology Association (UITA) and the Utah Life Science Association (ULSA), has released new numbers that the group says shows the current status and growth of Utah's technology market. The group said Wednesday that its numbers, derived from the Utah Department of Workforce Services, show that there are now more than 3,700 information technology and life science jobs in Utah, for a total of 60,000 jobs in the region. The group said that Utah's technology industry grew by 7.3 percent from 2004 and 2005, with the greatest increase in Software Publishers, at 15.6 percent growth. The UTC also said that it Utah showed a much higher industry and employment growth rate than neighboring states.
