Webroot Names New President, CEO

Boulder-based Webroot, which develops Internet security tools, said this morning that it has appointed Dick Williams as the firm's new President and Chief Executive Officer. Williams was most recently chairman of Hyperic, and also served as CEO of Wily Technology, Ilustra Information Technology, and founder of Quokka Sports. He has also worked at IBM, Digital Research, and Novell. Williams sits on the boards of Fortify Software, 3VR Security, and Altor Networks. Williams replaces interim CEO Eric Spivey, who had replaced former CEO Peter Watkins sometime earlier this year. No reasons for the executive shuffle were given by the company. Webroot is venture backed by Technology Crossover Ventures, Accel Partners, and Mayfield.
