Walmart To Roll Out Self Driving Grocery Delivery In Surprise, Arizona

Walmart is planning to use self-driving, autonomous delivery vans to deliver groceries to customers in Surprise, Arizona, as part of a pilot rollout with autonomous vehicle developer Udelv, the company said on Tuesday. According to Walmart, the pilot program will use a custom, cargo-van specifically designed to deliver fresh groceries to Walmart's customers. Walmart said the pilot is a way to "stay on the cutting edge of grocery delivery". The company also says it has been running a few other, pilot projects with other self-driving car companies to explore how customers want to use that technology in their grocery shopping. The company did not discuss financial details of the deal, or what parts of Surprise will be covered by the new autonomous grocery delivery pilot.
