Solid Power, a company developing all solid-state rechargeable batteries, has raised $3.5M in funding, part of a larger, $15.0M funding round under way for the firm, according to a regulatory filing. Details on the funding have not been announced, however, Solid Power recently announced a deal with BMW to develop next-generation, solid-state batteries for electric vehicles. Solid Power is a 2012 spinout of the University of Colorado Boulder, and says its technology does not use any volatile or flammable liquid components. The company has been looking to apply its battery technology to the portable electronics, electric vehicles, aircraft and satellite markets. Doug Campbell is the CEO and ofunder of Solid Power.
