FreeWave Lands $113M Investment from TA
FreeWave Technologies, an independent manufacturer of spread spectrum radios, has received $113 million in private funding from TA Associates, the equity firm announced Wednesday. TA said FreeWave designs and produces board-level and enclosed format data radios for the commercial and military markets. TA also said the industry annual shipments are projected to grow from $262 million in 2006 to more than $1 billion in 2011. FreeWave was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. TA Associates, which manages more than $10 billion in investment capital, was established in 1968 and is based in Boston.
