Phoenix, Arizona-based ON Semiconductor, a manufacturer of computer chips and other components, has teamed with Masaryk University of Brno, Czech Republic, to open a $1.2 million academic laboratory, the Phoenix-based firm revealed this week. Sited on the university’s campus, the 120-square-meter facility will serve as a center for silicon technology and microelectronics research. Masaryk University contributed some $950,000 to construct the laboratory, with ON Semiconductor investing an additional $230,000. The company also provided guidance during the design and construction of the facility’s clean rooms.
