Foundry Backs Another 3D Printer Maker, Formlabs
In the second, 3D printing investment for Boulder-based Foundry Group, the venture capital firm is the lead investor in Formlabs, a developer of professional, 3D printers based in Massachusetts. Formlabs said it raised $35M in a Series B funding this morning, in a round led by Foundry Group, Autodesk, as well as prior investors DFJ Growth, Pitango Venture Capital, and Pascal Cagni. Foundry is going all-in on 3D printing, having also led another 3D printing investment this week in Glowforge, where it also led a Series B. Foundry is not shy about companies pushing the technology front in terms of devices and electronics; the company is also an investor in such companies as Sphero (robotics); littlebits (robotic toys); 3D Robotics (drones); and Brewbot (beer brewing robots).
