Overstock.com Starts Accepting Bitcoin
Salt Lake City-based online retailer is paving a new path in e-commerce, and has started accepting the online Bitcoin currency for purchases. Overstock.com started offering up purchases using the controversial currency via its shopping cart Thursday, allowing any of its customers to pay directly with Bitcoin for any purchase. Overstock.com is reportedly immediately converting those Bitcoin purchases into dollars after the transaction, and is tapping startup Coinbase for the handling of Bitcoin. Overstock.com looks to be the first, major e-commerce retailer to directly accept Bitcoins for purchase.
