OtterBox: Counterfeit Cases A Big Problem
You know your brand has made it, when the counterfeiters start ripping off your products. Fort Collins-based OtterBox said this week that there were judgements and settlements totaling nearly $11M in favor of OtterBox last year, covering the confiscation of more than 118,000 counterfeit items. OtterBox said that its smartphone cases have become a very popular target of counterfeiters, saying that counterfeiters are "constantly trying to capitalize on the company's success" by producing fake OtterBox products. The company has apparently been working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on detecting and cracking down on those counterfeits.
