Grow America Launches $35,000 Competition
Salt Lake City-based Grow America said this moring that it has launched a new, $35,000 product competition aimed at innovative products. The group--which is led by Alan E. Hall--said it will be awarding a total of $35,000 to three companies for its first competition in 2013, including $20,000 for first place, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third. The group said it has launched a new platform called CrowdLift as part of the competition, where entrepreneurs can submit and vote on product ideas for the competition. Hall is applying much of what his groups have learned from running Grow Utah, a similar Utah-specific series of business plan competitions, and now applying them on a national scale; those efforts all revolved around helping to fund promising ideas and getting entrepreneurs to the next step in their business creation efforts, to ultimately create new companies and jobs.
