First Funder Launches Crowdfunding Site With Angel Backing
Two, 18-year old entrepreneurs, Kevin Zell and Brendan Karp, are behind a brand, new, crowdfunding platform launched Friday, First Funder, aimed specifically at community-based organizations. First Funder said its crowd funding campaigns are sponsored by trusted, community organizations, which will let supporters donate to projects, and eventually support equity funding once the JOBS Act is finalized. Zell and Karp developed the idea while members of DECA in high school, the company said, and is launching with community partners such as Greenlite Labs, the Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute and Young Americans Center for Financial Education. The new statup is headed by Jonathan Beninson.
