Aerospace Manufacturer Opens Salt Lake City Design Center
ITT Exelis, a aerospace and defense manufacturer, said Thursday that it has opened up a new, composite design and manufacturing center in Salt Lake City. The firm said the new facility will focus on composite aerostructures for the commercial and military. The company--which has 20,500 employees globally, and sales of $5.8 billion in 2011---did not say how many people it plans to hire locally, but that it has already hired 100 employees and added 250,000 square feet in the last year at the location. The new expansion is part of the Exelis Electronic Systems Integrated Structures business.
