Twitter To Open Data Center In Salt Lake City
Twitter, the Silicon Valley company behind the micro-messaging phenomenon, said yesterday that it is building out a new data center in Salt Lake City, and is expected to move its technical operations and infrastructure to the location later this year. According to Twitter, the new, custom-build data center will give the firm flexibility to more quickly make adjustments to its infrastructure, and give it full control over its network and systems configuration. Twitter has been using an outsourced data center services from NTT America, which it says it will continue to do as it brings its own data center online. Size of the new Salt Lake data center, and expected impact on local jobs and employment were not announced by the firm.
