Sion Power Signs Deal with BASF
Tucson, Arizona-based Sion Power, a developer of rechargeable lithium sulfur batteries, announced Thursday that it is in a joint development agreement with BASF. According to Sion, the two have agreed to accelerate commercialization of its lithium-sulfur battery technology, for the electric vehicle market and other high-energy applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The firm said that the collaboration will focus on development of battery materials to improve the life of its Li-S battery technology, beyond what is currently available. Sion is a spinout of Brookhaven National Laboratories.
