Avnet Names Electronics Marketing Americas President
Electronic components distributor Avnet Inc. reported Tuesday that its Avnet Electronics Marketing operating group has promoted Ed Smith to president of its Americas division, effective immediately. Smith, the Phoenix-based firm explained, had served as senior vice president of sales for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas since 2004. In his new role, the company added, he will report directly to Harley Feldberg, Avnet Electronics Marketing's global president. Prior to Avnet, Smith was president, chief executive officer and a board director at SMTEK International. Before that, he spent eight years with Avnet, the company noted, holding various sales and operations positions, including district manager for Los Angeles and Phoenix.
