Great Basin Scientific Inc. reported Tuesday that it has hired Laurence Rea as vice president of operations. The Salt Lake City, Utah-based life sciences firm billed Rea as a 20-year engineering and manufacturing veteran who previously spent eight years managing BioStar Inc.'s Good Manufacturing Practice facility. At Great Basin, the company said, Rea will be responsible for directing regulatory, manufacturing and quality control systems as the company's molecular diagnostic products enter clinical trials and go to market. He will also oversee the setup of the company's manufacturing facilities in Longmont, Colorado.
