Micron Pledges $1.2M For USTAR Building
The University of Utah announced this morning that the Micron Technology Foundation, the nonprofit charity organization associated with Micron Technology, has pledged $1.25M in funding for the development of a nanofabrication teaching and research lab at the University. According the the University, Micron's pledge will go to the Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) building now under development. The investment comes on top of nearly $130M in state and private dollars behind the effort. The new laboratory facility will be used for semiconductor, nanotechnology and electronics research. USTAR is a $400M effort by the State of Utah to boost technology commercialization, university research, and other efforts at turning research into products, companies, and jobs in the state.
