MPC-Gateway Transaction Passes Antitrust Review
Computer hardware manufacturer MPC Corp. revealed Wednesday that federal antitrust authorities will not block the company's pending acquisition of Gateway's professional business division. MPC originally reported its intent to purchase the fellow PC provider's property on Sept. 5. However, federal antitrust law outlined in the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act mandated a 30-day waiting period. The delay, MPC explained, has been terminated early as the result a successfully completed review. The transaction should now close on Oct. 1, MPC said. Formerly Micron PC, MPC Corp. is headquartered in Nampa, Idaho.
