Amazon to Open Phoenix Fulfillment Center, To Hire Up To 300
Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. announced Tuesday that it will open a new fulfillment center later this year in Phoenix. Amazon said its new Phoenix facility will be one of the company's largest and will cover 600,000 square feet. Amazon added that up to 300 full-time employees will be needed to staff the building, plus an additional 1,000-1,300 temporary jobs during the 2007 holiday season. Amazon said the facility should open in the third quarter and will fulfill media orders, such as those for books, DVDs, music and software. Founded in 1995, Amazon.com is headquartered in Seattle.
