New Mexico Tech, NCGR Create Genome Sequencing Center
Santa Fe, New Mexico-based New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) and the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR) announced today that they have established a partnership to create the New Mexico Genome Sequencing Center. The new center, which is funded by the State of New Mexico, will focused on medical resequencing. The state has provided the center with $600,000 in funding to focus on large-scale sequencing of genomes. According to the groups, the center will serve New Mexico universities and research institutes. NCGR focuses on using software and computation to improve treatment of diseases and nutrition.
