TriLumina Gets $8.5M For Automotive LiDAR

Santa Fe, New Mexico-based TriLumina, a developer of laser-based LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) hardware being applied to the automotive market, has raised $8.5M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Stage 1 Ventures, and also included Cottonwood Technology Fund and Sun Mountain Capital. TriLumina--whose founders came from MODE, Intel and Sandia and Los Alamos Labs--said the funding will go towards customer integration projects and revenue ramp. TriLumina is led by Kirk Otis. The company's products are used for detecting objects around automobiles, for use in safety systems.
