Text Me Tix Gets Attention For Last Minute Ticket Deal Service

A new, Salt Lake City-based startup, Text Me Tix, is gaining attention for its marketplace for last-minute ticket deals, saying that it won the first CROWDSTART Las Vegas pitch event Friday. The startup--headed by Mark Harmsen--lets user find last minute deals on live events such as sporting events, comedy, concerts, theater, ski resorts, and amusement parks. Text Me Tix was the first prize winner at the CROWDSTART event, and will be pitching VegasTechFund, the Vegas-based venture capital firm headed by Zappos founder Tony Hsieh, later this month, to raise $500,000. VegasTechFund is the venture fund run by Hsieh which is looking to attract companies to Las Vegas to establish a new tech industry in that city. It's unclear if Text Me Tix intends to move to Las Vegas, however, VegasTechFund specifically is aimed at funding firms who want to become part of the Las Vegas technology community. Text Me Tix is also part of Salt Lake's BoomStartup accelerator program.
