TechShop Shuts Doors, Including Phoenix Location

TechShop, the "Maker" space operator which allowed technology enthusiasts to access 3D printers and other DIY resources, has shut down its Chandler, Arizona location, which it had opened up in 2014 in a partnership with Arizona State University--as part of an wider, shutdown of the company. TechShop said it is now seeking buyers for the company. TechShop and the ASU Chandler Innovation Center had signed a deal in 2012 to bring TechShop to the area, to provide Arizona State University students and Chandler-area makers, entrepreneurs, and innovators access to everything from welding staitons, 3D printers, to plasma cutters to make technology products. ASU's College of Technology and Innovation had offered its students taking classes at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center with free access to TechShop.
