Symantec Acquires Altiris

Cupertino, California-based Symantec said this morning that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire Salt Lake City, Utah-based Altiris, a provider of IT management software. The deal is worth approximately $830M in cash. Symantec said that the acquisition is expected to close in the second calendar quarter of 2007, and is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory and stockholder approval.
