Study: Venture Capital Bloggers Affect Valuations

A new study, released this week by a professor at the University of Utah, has found that discussion by popular bloggers--as has long been suspected by entrepreneurs--can have a "massive" effect on valuation of a company. The study, published in the journal Information Systems Research by Rohit Aggarwal, a professor at the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business, found that coverage by bloggers affected both funding amounts and valuations of companies. Agrawal said that coverage in major technology blogs had the most effect on those amounts and valuations of those companies. Image courtesy BigStock.
