SunShare Tops 100 MW Of Community Solar Installed

Denver-based solar power developer SunShare, which develops "community" solar power projects, says it has now surpassed 100 MW of developed community solar projects. The company--which lets homeowners, renters, government organizations, and small businesses buy into small solar power developments, which it calls "solar gardens"--says it now has completed development of 105 MW of solar across 77 community solar gardens, having signed up over 8,300 commercial and residential subscribers to its developments. The company operates in Colorado and Minnesota, and targets its solar power projects to those who might not be able to put solar panels on their own roof--but who are willing to back local projects to feed solar into the local grid. The company put its first community solar program in place, a small 2MW project, in 2011 in Colorado Springs. SunShare is led by founder and CEO David Amster-Olszewski.
