Cake Collects $5M For Mobile Native Browser Software

Salt Lake City-based Cake Technologies, the developer of a "mobile-first" web browsing software product, has raised $5M in what it calls a "pre Series-A" funding round. The funding was led by Peak Ventures, and also included Pelion Venture Partners and Kickstart Seed Fund. Cake says its mobile browser lets users swipe through search results, instead of following the traditional page of result links. Cake, led by CEO Kendall Hulet, says its browser is designed to take full advantage of high-speed connections and touch-enabled mobile devices, something which hasn't been done at all with existing mobile browsers.
