Tendril Ties With BMW On Smart Home Demo

Boulder-based Tendril, the developer of cloud-based software for energy monitoring, and BMW Group Technology Office USA, said today the two have teamed to built out a demonstration, smart energy home in Mountain View, California. The two said the home shows the integration of the new BMW ActiveE electric vehicle, along with Tendril's Connect software. The software will help consumers control and monitor the charging station for the new BMW electric vehicle. Among other benefits, Tendril said the software will provide local utilities with information on the location of EVs, so they can manage hot spots in growth of energy consumption on their networks. Details on the business deal between BMW and Tendril have not been announced. Tendril is headed by Adrian Tuck, and is venture backed by VantagePoint Capital Partners, Siemens Venture Capital (SVC), Good Energies, RRE Ventures and GE.
