Spectra Logic Sees Opportunity at CERN

Boulder-based Spectra Logic, the developer of tape libraries for the data storage market, reported today that its libraries are being evaluated at CERN, for use as part of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project. The firm said it installed libraries in Julky at CERN's laboratory, for evaluation and use in storing data from the project. Spectra Logic did not say what a timeframe for selection by CERN would be, but did say that CERN is storing around 25 petabytes of scientific data per year from the LHC experiments.
