ServiceMagic Acquires Market Hardware

Golden, Colorado-based ServiceMagic Inc., operator of a comparison-shopping Web site for domestic services, announced Thursday that it has acquired Market Hardware Inc. Financial terms of the transaction, which closed Jan. 23, were not revealed. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Market Hardware provides online marketing software and services to small- and medium-sized businesses in the home improvement, repair and maintenance vertical. According to ServiceMagic, the acquisition represents a "natural extension" of its business strategy and enables it to offer home service businesses a customizable Web-marketing platform. Based in Golden, Colo., ServiceMagic is a subsidiary of IAC Inc.
