Picolight Ships 4G VCSEL Transceiver
Louisville-based Picolight has shipped a new, 4G transceiver for optical communications. The company said that it is shipping a new 1310 nanometer (nm) vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) transceivers for use in data centers. The company's transceivers are used for short to medium distance storage area networking and Fibre Channel applications. The company said that their new Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers operate at exisiting 1 and 2Gbps rates, along with the newer 4Gbps Fibre Channel standard. Picolight's transcievers are used in the high speed optical networking and storage networking markets.
