NextFoods Gulps Up $16M Funding Round
Boulder-based NextFoods, a maker of probiotic drinks, said this week that it has scored $16M in a round of investment, from a Seattle venture firm co-founded by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. According to NextFoods, the deal was led by Maveron LLC, which was co-founded by Schultz. NextFoods is the maker of the GoodBelly brand of probiotic fruit drinks; NextFoods has licensed a probiotics from Swedish biotech Probi AB. The firm was founded by Steve Demos, who was founder and former President of WhiteWave, Inc., which makes the Silk soymilk drink.
